Beverly "Jean" Saunders

Hagerstown, MD - Beverly “Jean” Saunders, 81 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at her home.

Born in Hagerstown, MD on August 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison and Birdie Virginia (Wittkofsky) Bell.

She graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1957. She was previously employed for many years as a dispatcher at Chessie System, formerly Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown, MD. She was later employed at Fridinger Ritchie in Hagerstown, MD.

Jean was a former member at the Church of Christ at Hagerstown and most recently attended Hilltop Christian Fellowship in Clear Spring, MD. Previously, Jean volunteered at the Hope Center in Hagerstown. Jean was a member of the Woodmen of the World where she currently was serving as the secretary. Jean was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and even made many blankets for various nursing homes and senior living centers in Washington County.

Jean is survived by her husband Joseph Guy “Joe” Saunders whom she married on December 26, 1993, daughter Sandra K. Gilmer (Craig) of Hagerstown, MD, son Rodney A. Stone (Ruthie) of Hagerstown, MD, son Jeffrey L. Stone (Terri) of Smithsburg, MD, son Brian S. Stone of Waynesboro, PA, and son Joseph K. Stone of Maugansville, MD, grandchildren Michael, Jade, Hannah, Austin, Sara, Autumn, and Ryan, and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Forrest, Frances Farris, and Betty Kessel and one brother, Joseph Bell.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 16, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open at 9:00 am on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Osborne Funeral Home with Mr. Casey R. Strunk officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
