Williamsport, MD – Carl Warren “Junebug” Socks, 90, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community in Boonsboro, MD.
He was born on September 30, 1931 in Williamsport, MD to the late George Michael and Rene Genevieve Nowell Socks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Boppe Socks in 2012.
Carl attended Williamsport Schools.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict as a Combat Medic.
He was employed by Garden State Tannery in Williamsport, MD until his retirement. He was previously employed by Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown, MD for 22 years.
Carl was a member of Calvary Temple and Star of Hope Chapel in Williamsport, MD.
He is survived by his daughter Alice R. Fultz of Clear Spring, MD; daughter Debra E. Myers of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Margaret A. Forsythe of Williamsport, MD; daughter Carolyn L. Mills of Smithsburg, MD; son Carl Richard Socks of Downsville, MD; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by five sisters Viola Socks, Audrey Newlin, Virginia Socks, Thelma Banzhoff, and Ella Josephine Socks; four brothers Earl C. Socks, Sr., Joseph Socks, William Socks, and George Socks and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Doug Forsythe officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Clear Spring, MD. Military services will be provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
