Falling Waters, WV - Charles David Largent 87 of Falling Waters, West Virginia passed away surrounded by his children and their families on February 22, 2024.

Born April 9, 1936, in Clarke County, VA, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Largent and the late Mabel Catherine Fishell Butts Largent.


Charles spent nearly 55 years married to the love of his life Joye Ann Largent, until her passing in 2014.

Charles was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport, MD and enjoyed attending and fellowshipping there. He was a life member and former commander of AMVets Post #38 (Falling Waters, WV), a life member and former officer of American Legion Post #202 (Williamsport, MD), a life member of  Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84 (Williamsport, MD), and was involved in countless other community and civil organizations.

Charles retired officially in 1998 from Largent’s Body Shop in Marlowe, WV. Utilizing the G.I Bill he began training for his autobody career at OTT Motors (Martinsburg, WV), and worked at Hoffman Chevrolet (Hagerstown, MD), Central Motors, Inc. (Hagerstown, MD), Regester’s Body Shop (State Line, PA) and Porterfield's Collision Center (Martinsburg, WV) before opening Largent’s Body Shop in 1979 with his wife.


Charles led a life dedicated to service. First, in his service to our country in the United States Army, serving in Korea alongside his lifelong friend Norm “Peanie” Ceravalo. He then went on to serve his community through volunteer work with veterans organizations, where he helped to establish and run programs providing activities such as bingo for veterans under care at the Martinsburg VA Hospital and Care Facility, providing razors and other toiletries to the same, placing flags on veterans’ graves and along the interstate, going on trips with local schools to Washington DC to share his stories and experiences, and fundraising for scholarships. He spent the later part of his life dedicated to serving his lord and savior.

He is survived by his children RoxAnne (Largent) Kelley (Kenneth) and Rex H. Largent (Melanie), his seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four great great grand children and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, and his wife Joye, he was preceded in death by siblings Floyd E. Butts, Jr., Ethel Butts Miller, Joesph L. Butts, Paul S. Butts, Sr., Frances Largent Sirignano, and Lola Largent Cole.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795 on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5pm – 8pm.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11am; Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Falling Waters, WV. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.

Charles will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, Pap (to his grandchildren), uncle, cousin, proud veteran, friend and Charlie to all his angels.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in honor of Charles D Largent to Hospice of the Panhandle or the Martinsburg, WV VA Hospital.
