Williamsport, MD – Chuck Spitzer, 62, of Williamsport, MD passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a very devoted and loving husband and father. He had strong, conservative family values and faith in God.
He was born on February 6, 1962, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Charles Clinton Sr. and Rosalie Marie (Keller) Spitzer. He and his parents moved to Washington County, MD after his first year where he resided throughout his life.
Chuck was a 1980 graduate of Williamsport High School where he was captain of his football team, served in student government, and was elected Mr. WHS for Homecoming. He was revered as quite an athlete in track and football. After high school, he attended Hagerstown Junior College where he received his associate degree. Chuck’s love of sports continued throughout his life, especially for his Miami Dolphins.
His strong interest in student government and service led to his continued participation in student government at Hagerstown Junior College and further into his 20s and 30s where he matured his passions through Boonsboro Jaycees (Community Service Organization) he served as President and a District Leader of Washington County for Jaycees.
Chuck was employed as a bookkeeper by Turner Enterprises Hagerstown, MD until his retirement. In addition to this employment, he shared his talents and passion within many other fields. He taught personal development and soft-ware courses locally and nationally. Along with his wife, he was the co-owner of “Celebrate Health and Wellness” and served his community as a massage therapist. With his love of travel, he became an independent consultant of a travel and luxury company. Chuck was a true visionary with a brilliant entrepreneurial mind and was much sought after to do presentations for different ideas and products. Because of his gift of public speaking, he was a regular guest on a local TV program, The FlipSide.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tammy Spitzer whom he married on November 20, 1993; son Matt Spitzer of Williamsport, MD; son Zach Spitzer of Williamsport, MD; sister Jenny Widmyer and her husband Tom of Williamsport, MD; brother Doug Spitzer of Houston, Missouri; mother- in- law Rose Marie Hessler of Williamsport, MD; brother-in-law Kevin Hessler and his wife Jeannie of Frederick, MD; brother-in-law Eric Henson and his wife Joanna of Clear Spring, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Scott Turner and his father-in-law Junior Roy (JR) Hessler.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 am with Kevin Smoot officiating.
