Claudia Virginia "Petie" Smith

Hagerstown, MD – Claudia Virginia “Petie” Smith, 85, of Hagerstown, MD passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, July 25, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

She was born on September 30, 1934 in Williamsport, MD she was the daughter of the late James Mansfield and Edna Virginia Jordan Wolford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. Smith, I on April 12, 2013.  They were married April 13, 1952.

Petie attended Williamsport High School.  Over the years she had several different jobs (C&P Telephone, Two Guys Department Store, Salem Way Confectionery, and 7-Eleven) but the most important “job” to her was her family.  She loved her family and would do anything for them.

She is survived by her daughter Leslie Miller and her husband Robert of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Patti Guessford and her fiance’ Rick Short of Hagerstown, MD; son Lester Smith, II and his fiancee’ Ashley Ricchi of Shady Grove, PA; son Joseph Smith and his wife Kate of Hagerstown, MD; granddaughter Jennifer Reno of Waynesboro, PA; granddaughter Sarah Liddle (with whom she resided) and her husband Darren of Delray, WV; granddaughter Jaci Smith of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Patrick Guessford of Harpers Ferry, WV; grandson Jacob Smith of Hagerstown, MD; grandson Stephen Smith of Waynesboro, PA; six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers William E. Wolford, James M. Wolford, and Gary E. Wolford, and one sister Patsy V. Wolford Powell.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert B. Miller officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
