Martinsburg, WV – Clyde D. Ward, Sr., 88, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.
He was born on April 20, 1933 in Clear Spring, MD to the late Leo Henry and Amy A. Drury Ward.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. “Peepy” Ward in 2000.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
Clyde was employed by Shenandoah’s Pride as a Heavy Truck Mechanic for 40 years until his retirement in 1998.
He was a past minister at Mt. Briar Church of God in Keedysville, MD, Locust Valley First Church of God in Middletown, MD, and Pleasantville First Church of God in Knoxville, MD.
He was a member of Mt. Briar Church of God in Keedysville, MD;
Clyde was a member of the Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion in Boonsboro, MD.
He is survived by five daughters Mary Jane Steinman of San Antonio, TX, Laura Sue Martin of Halfway, MD, Jennifer Hess, Heather Mason, and Jodi Mercer; three sons Clyde D. Ward, Jr. of Sharpsburg, MD, Mike E. Ward of Williamsport, MD, and Timothy L. Ward, Sr. of Williamsport, MD; brother Alfred Ward of Smithsburg, MD; 15 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; Numerous Neices and Nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Sharon D. Churchey; five sisters Blanche Violet, Sally Milburn, Julia Myers, Hazel Myers and Molly Marshall; five brothers John Ward, James Ward, Harry Ward, Joe Fisher, and Chester Yost.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at The Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 10:00 am with Rev. Robert V. Robinson officiating. Military graveside services will be provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
