Hagerstown, MD – Daniel W. Springer, Jr., 96, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his home.
He was born on May 7, 1927, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Daniel Webster, Sr. and Gertrude (Alexander) Springer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Springer in 2023.
Over Daniel’s 40-year career with AT&T/Verizon he served in many different roles until his retirement. He started as a telephone pole installer and finished his career as a Commercial Phone Systems Technician.
Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving during World War II aboard the USS Wakefield which transported troops to and from Europe.
He was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ in Hagerstown, MD.
Daniel was a lifetime volunteer and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed going to estate sales, auctions, and antiquing. Daniel tinkered with computers and land line phones. He loved to play golf, spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchild.
He is survived by his son James Springer and his wife Rhonda of Martinsburg, WV; daughter-in-law Tammy Springer of Mercersburg, PA; grandchildren Michael, Melanie, and Ryan; great grandson Wesley; nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a son Gene F. Springer and a brother Richard Springer.
Services will be private.
