Hagerstown, Maryland- Dorine Myers Wood, 101 of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Baltimore, Md passed away on Thursday November 23, 2017 at Somerford House in Hagerstown.

 

Born September 9, 1916 in Williamsport, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Martha Esther Stenger Myers.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband Norman Henry McElroy on May 27, 1966 and her second husband Gerald Hewitt Wood, Jr. on December 18, 1988.

 

She was a 1934 graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Elmira College in Elmira, NY.

 

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church, the Women’s Club in Hagerstown and was active in the Girl Scout and Cub Scout movement in Baltimore.

 

Dorine is survived by her four daughters Martha L. Manges and husband Allen of Boswell, PA, Niki A. Wakefield of Perry Hall, MD, Karen KC Wood of Baltimore, MD, Kathleen M. Thrasher and husband Bernie of Baltimore, MD, three sons Louis A. McElroy and wife Terri of Arvada, CO, Gerald H. Wood, III of Baltimore, MD and Donald N. McElroy and wife Carol of Manheim, PA, a sister Harriette Bowers of Hagerstown, two brothers Jack Myers and wife Mary Jo of Hagerstown, MD, Thomas O. Myers and wife Sandy of Hagerstown, MD, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five sisters Faye Stenger, Daisy Moser, Reba Fazenbaker, Zola Kesselring and Ivy Warner, four brothers Charles Myers, James Myers, William Myers and Robert Myers and a grandson Gerald H. Wood, IV.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 2, 2017 at 11:00am at Williamsport United Methodist Church 25 E. Church St. Williamsport, MD with Rev. Susan E. Boehl officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be private.
