Doris Jean Byers

Doris Jean Byers, 75, passed away at her home in Mercersburg, PA on Saturday, August 26, 2023. She was Born Saturday, September 20, 1947, and was the daughter of the late James Lewis Rowland.
Doris graduated from Clear Spring high school in 1965. After high school she was employed by the telephone company. She then was a stay-at-home mom until returning to work as an instructional assistant with WCPS until her retirement. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church of Hagerstown, Maryland, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. 
Doris had a passion and love for cooking. Family meals were one thing she treasured the most. She enjoyed many years in her retirement spending time with her husband Lynn at Solomons Island on their boat the “Ashley Banks”, lovingly named after their granddaughter’s middle names. Some of her favorite times were fishing on the river with “Pop”, cooking with her granddaughters when they were young, passing on her secret culinary skills to her son Eric and the first snow of the year. She endearingly always introduced her only daughter in law as her favorite. Her family was her world and the one thing you could count on her talking about was the pride and joy she had for her son and her granddaughters. 
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Lynn E Byers; son, Eric, C Byers and wife Patty of Clear, Spring, Maryland; and her two granddaughters, Meghan and Abigail of Clear Spring. 
She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Ann Rowland Wiggins.
Services will be private.
