Doris Irene Pertino

Doris Irene (Abbott-Edwards) Pertino of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Thursday August 3, 2023, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD. She was born on March 25, 1934, in Washington County, MD to the late Leo L. and Thelma I. Abbott. Doris worked in retail most of her life, including modeling at Saks Fifth Avenue and Jelleffs in the Washington D.C. area.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, John Pertino and Rufus Edwards, she was preceded in death by her brother John D. Abbot, Sr. and his wife, Faye, brother Ronald W. Abbott, and brothers-In-Law Bruce McKee, Ronald Teti and David Hawthorne.

She was a stepmother and grandmother to the Pertino family for many years during her marriage and before the death of John. Even though Doris was actually an aunt to her many nieces and nephews for four generations, she was as loved as a grandmother could be to the families of the Abbott’s, McKee’s, Teti’s, and Bradford/Hawthorne and their children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sisters, Virginia McKee, Betty Teti, and Carolyn Hawthorne, brother Leon P. Abbott and his wife Sharon, an Uncle Homer S. Abbott and many cousins, who enjoyed their time with our wonderful little redhead. Always dressed to the nines for any event that should come that day showing her fun personality and her joy for life.

Doris was a resident at Coffman Nursing Home for the past few years and was a joy to her friends and staff there. Her joy was an asset wherever she went.

The family cannot thank Coffman Nursing Home enough for their care and attention over the years. Thanks also to ICU 4th floor Meritus Medical Center for their caring bedside manner and attention during her final days.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday August 10, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD on Thursday August 10, 2023, at 12:00 pm (noon) with Pastor Hoda Zavandro officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Coffman Nursing Home 1304 Pennsylvania Avenue Hagerstown, Maryland 21742 to go towards the Activity Department.
