Douglas Peacher Obituary

Williamsport, MD – Douglas W. “Ironman” Peacher, 69, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at his home after a long battle with cancer.

 

He was born on August 24, 1950 in Washington County, MD to the late Vernon Leo and Jeanette Ann Straley Peacher of Fairplay, MD.

 

Doug was a 1968 graduate of South Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was employed by Hopewell Sheet Metal in Hagerstown, MD with 20 years of service until retiring in 2016.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.

 

He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, MD.

 

Doug was a member of Amvets Post #10 in Hagerstown, MD; Dixon-Troxell Post #211 American Legion in Funkstown, MD; Eagles Club #694 in Hagerstown, MD; IORM Conococheague Tribe #84 in Williamsport, MD; Williamsport Moose Lodge #2462 in Williamsport, MD.

 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Janis I. Wilson Peacher; son Robert D. Peacher of Williamsport, MD; sister M. Jane Smith and her husband Charles of Downsville, MD; sister Barbara J. Stouffer and her husband John of Roebuck, SC; brother Kurt D. Peacher and his wife Donna of Clear Spring, MD; granddaughter Skylar A. Lange of Martinsburg, WV; granddaughter Emma J. Peacher of Hagerstown, MD; mother in law and caregiver Marie Wilson Witek and her husband Lester of Williamsport, MD; numerous nieces and nephews; his loving dogs Gracie Lynn and Chewey Ann.

 

He was predeceased by a sister Vicki D. Peacher Smoot.

 

Family and friends may pay their respects to Doug on Monday, April 27, 2020 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD.

 

Burial will be private at Rest Haven Cemetery Hagerstown, MD.

 

A celebration of Doug’s life will be announced at a later date.
