Funkstown, MD – Elmer Theodore Ecton, Sr., 89, of Funkstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on September 28, 1932 in Sharpsburg, MD to the late Norman Leon and Nina Mae Eversole Ecton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ernestine Nelson Ecton in 2018.
Elmer was employed by Building Systems, Inc. until his retirement in 2002.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
He was a member of AARP.
Elmer liked listening to Country Music, doing puzzles, Western Movies, and long car rides.
He is survived by daughter Brenda M. Hebb of Big Pool, MD; daughter Karen Y. Lemaster and her husband Raymond of Falling Waters, WV; son Elmer T. Ecton, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Hagerstown, MD; son Monte L. Ecton and his wife Peggy of Sharpsburg, MD; son Michael K. Ecton and his wife Christie of Hagerstown, MD; son Darrell L. Ecton of Martinsburg, WV; son Eric Thomas Ecton and his wife Dominique of Weston, WV; stepdaughter Debra L. Thomas and her husband Gary of Fairplay, MD; stepson Rodney N. Beard and his wife Verna of Williamsport, MD; brother Roger Ecton of Sharpsburg, MD;24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by stepson Rick A. Beard; son-in-law Richard Hebb, Sr.; 4 sisters;7 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Lee Brumback officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.
The family request that you please dress casual for the services. No dress clothes please.
