Haymarket, VA – Harold Daniel “Dan” Churchey, 64, of Haymarket, VA and formerly of Sharpsburg, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 with his wife by his side.
He was born on August 24, 1955 in Martinsburg, WV to the late Harold Edgar and Eva Virginia Zombro Churchey.
He was a 1973 graduate of Boonsboro High School Boonsboro, MD, a graduate of Bluefield College with honors where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree, and a graduate of Troy University with honors where he received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.
He was the Chief of Facilities for the National Park Service on the National Mall until his retirement.
He was a member of Battlefield Baptist Church in Warrenton, VA.
He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge.
Dan was an outdoor enthusiast. He loved to ski, sail, hike and bike. His love for the outdoors also included his love for animals.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years Lisa Ann Hedrick Churchey; son Joseph Daniel Churchey of Winchester, VA; stepdaughter Amanda Snyder Burton and her husband Chris of Winchester, VA; stepson Nathan Snyder of Winchester, VA; 3 step grandchildren; Aunt Catherine Churchey of Hagerstown, MD.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.
Services and burial will be private.
