Herbert A. "Herbie" Burgess

Hagerstown, Maryland-Herbert A. “Herbie” Burgess, 90 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday January 11, 2021 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Hagerstown, MD.

Born February 25, 1930 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Alfred and Grace Irene Lung Burgess.  He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Elaine Keller Burgess in 2013.

He attended Smithsburg High School.

He served in the United States Army.

He retired as a Mail Carrier for the USPS in 1985.  After retirement he worked for 25 years for the Town of Williamsport, MD.

Herbie was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport, MD, a member of Potomac Fish and Game Club in Williamsport, MD and Mediary Lodge #140 AF&AM in Williamsport, MD and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Ali Ghan Shrine.

He is survived by a stepdaughter Patsy A. Crumbacker of Hagerstown, MD, a stepson Steven C. Crumbacker and his wife Kimberly of Hagerstown, MD, a brother Eubert H. Burgess of Smithsburg, MD and numerous nieces and nephews and friends from the Potomac Fish and Game Club.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son Michael A. Burgess in 1972, a son in law Paul Puskar, a brother Charles E. Burgess and a sister Betty L. Rohrer.

There will be no viewing.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday January 14, 2021 at 11:00am at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Father John Jicha officiating.
