Obituary

Hagerstown, MD – Imelda “Amy” Malinao Coon, 72, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her home.  

 

She was born on July 14, 1951, in Hinabuyan, Villaba, Leyte, The Philippines to the late Francisco and Rosario (Torregoza) Malinao. 

 

She is survived by her husband Paul E Coon of Hagerstown, MD whom she married on July 1, 1977. 

 

Amy was a Christian, a friend, a dog lover, and a homemaker. 

 

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hagerstown, MD. 

 

Amy enjoyed fishing and crabbing, gardening, bingo, Mahjong, karaoke and cooking. 

 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons Joseph Jeremiah Coon, Michael Angelo Coon, and Michael’s two daughters Charlotte Amylia Coon and Patricia Heramia Coon; Brother Ricardo Malinao, and Sisters Rosalie Rico, Mary Lenker, Josefina Punong, and Charlita Malinao. 

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Paquito Malinao. 

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St Williamsport, MD on Wednesday August 23, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open at 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends. 

 

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 224 W. Washington St Hagerstown, MD on Thursday August 24, 2023, at 10:00 am with Father James Boric celebrant. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD. 

 

If you would like to donate flowers in Amy’s memory, her favorite colors of flowers are red, pink, and white; please no carnations.
