Williamsport, MD – Jack Mitchell DeVore, 93, of Williamsport, MD, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at his home.
He was born on March 12, 1930, in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late James and Era Baker (Mitchell) DeVore.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nora Sue (Spruill) DeVore in 2010.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sgt.
He was a 1946 graduate of Richardville High School.
He was a member of Williamsport Seventh-day Adventist Church in Williamsport, MD. He spent many years as Head Elder for the church. He was the Treasurer at Acts 9 Community Center in Hagerstown.
His life was centered on his family. He was a generous and loving father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather, and prayer warrior. He was the anchor of the family, wisdom embodied, integrity and strength of character, the arms of safe love, our hero.
Jack is survived by his daughters Margaret A. McClure and her husband Ralph of Brush, Colorado, Pamela S. Tooley and her husband Vernon of Downsville, MD, Jacqueline C. Cross and her husband Gary of Chesapeake, VA; sons Michael W. DeVore of Williamsport, MD and Gary L. DeVore and his wife Candy of Apopka, FL; sister Betty Duckett of Kentucky, brother Paul DeVore of Kentucky; brother David DeVore of Indiana; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by 2 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and two brothers Robert and John DeVore.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family at Rocky Gap Veteran’s Cemetery in Flintstone, MD.
