Jack Murray Obituary

Williamsport, MD – Jack Phillip “Pappy” Murray, 85, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

 

He was born on September 17, 1934 in Williamsport, MD to the late Albert R. and Anna Marie Gossard Murray.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean Wilma (Brown) Murray on July 12, 2019.

 

Jack was a 1952 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD.

 

He was employed for 37 years as a local Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Williamsport, MD. Jack also owned and operated Murray’s Service Station for most of his working life and especially enjoyed running his Sporting Goods business and socializing with a lot of folks through the years.

 

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport, MD.

 

He was also a member of Potomac Fish & Game Club, IORM Tribe #84  and Mediary Lodge #140 AF&AM all of Williamsport, MD.

 

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family on holidays and birthdays.  He also enjoyed taking his daily ride down in the neck as he called it with his wife Jean.

 

He is survived by his son J. Phillip Murray, II and his wife Michelle of Williamsport, MD; son Joel James Murray and his wife Amy of Boonsboro, MD; grandchildren Meghan D. Murray, Jessica A. Murray, and Jenna M. Murray.

 

Friends and family may pay their respects to Jack on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD.

 

Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD with Pastor Kim Nunberg officiating.
