Jack W. Slick, Sr.

Williamsport, MD – Jack W. Slick, Sr., 85, of Williamsport, MD passed on to the next life peacefully at his home, Rising Hill Farm, surrounded by his family and his dog Rosie on November 1, 2023.

He was born on November 29, 1937, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Frederick Lloyd Slick, Sr. and Elsie (Barnhart) Slick.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and Hagerstown Junior College.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Traver Slick; three children Jack Slick, Jr., Katie Manuel, and Ginger Young (Robert); grandchildren John, Elizabeth, Andrew, Jenifer, and Jacob; 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Frederick Slick, II and William Slick and sisters Kathleen Slick and Betty Slick Byers.

Jack was the long-time proprietor of historic “Wolfe’s on the Square” in Williamsport, MD. He raised black angus cattle on his farm in Clear Spring, MD. He was an avid fisherman and loved telling or hearing fish stories at the store. He loved farming and raising cattle on his farm. He drove thousands of miles delivering live bait to many businesses all over the tri-state area.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday November 9, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 35 W. Potomac St. Williamsport, MD on Friday November 10, 2023, at 12:00 (noon) with Pastor Kim Nunberg officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD.
