James Gordon 'Pap" Moats

Williamsport, MD – James Gordon “Pap” Moats, 81, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home.

He was born on October 26, 1936 in Downsville, Maryland to the late Russell Richardson and Dorothy Marie Trumpower Moats.

He was employed by Maryland Maid Kitchens of Hagerstown, MD for 36 years until his retirement.

He was of the Protestant Faith.

James enjoyed camping and being outdoors, woodworking and most importantly spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter Jamie L. Snyder and her husband Charles Waynesboro, PA; daughter Salena J. Moats of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Eva M. Moats of Waynesboro, PA; son Gordon L. Moats, Sr. and his wife Regina of Williamsport, MD; son Joseph A. Moats and his wife Evelyn of Falling Waters, WV; son Kelly J. Moats of Williamsport, MD; sister Elva S. Snyder of Hagerstown, MD; sister Linda B. Reed of Georgetown, DE; brother Jack D. Moats of Boonsboro, MD; brother Walter R. Moats of Williamsport, MD; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his previous wives Mary Catherine Slater and Shirley Joyce Myers.

James was predeceased by a son Roy E. Moats, grandson Gordon L. Moats, Jr., three sisters Nancy V. Moats, Mary L. Moats-Bond, and Patsy M. Clark, and three brothers Wayne J. Moats, Vernon E. Moats, and Robert L. Moats.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
