As the sun rose on Sunday October 8, 2023, James L. “Jim” Rife, 79, of Falling Waters, WV, entered the golden gates of heaven as he departed this life. He was surrounded with the love of his wife Jean and dear friends Mike and Patty Mays who also were his caregivers during his battle with a cancerous brain tumor.
Born on July 18, 1944, in Whitewood, VA, Jim was the son of the late Leck and Linnie (Keen) Rife.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Rife whom he married on October 28, 1993; a special grandson Gunnar Berger who was his best buddy; son Rodney Rife of Martinsburg, WV; and a brother Eugene Rife of Johnson City, TN.
He was preceded in death by sisters Hazel Smith, Margie Rife, Elizabeth Cline and brothers Lawrence Rife, Arvel Rife, and Arlen Rife.
Jim graduated from Whitewood High School in Whitewood, VA. After graduation, he moved to Michigan where he went to work for General Motors, later transferring to the GM plant in Martinsburg, WV where he retired after over 30 years of service. After retirement, he began his second career as an antique dealer and had his own shop at Fayetteville Antique Mall in Fayetteville, PA for 32 years.
A celebration of life will be held on November 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm, in the Chapel of Experience Gateway Church in Williamsport, MD 11017 Kemps Mill Rd Williamsport, MD 21795.
