James (Jim) Barnes Obituary

James (Jim) Terry Barnes, 79, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, WV.
 
Born June 24, 1943 in Leitersburg, MD, Jim was the son of the late William M. and Leonia H. (Barbee) Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nellie Bachtell, Barbara Ann Kline, Bettie Kline, Beverly J. Barnes; and his brothers, William Barnes, Frank Barnes, Hollis Barnes, Bud Barnes, Butch Barnes, Jack Barnes and Elmo Barnes.
 
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sherry (Widmyer) Barnes who passed away on June 20, 2022.
 
Jim was a 1961 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and was employed by Ryder PIE Trucking and Kane Logistics.
 
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church on Winter Street for more than fifty years.
 
Jim is survived by his sons Randy Barnes and wife Maurisa; Mick Barnes and wife Teresa; five granddaughters, Jordan, Paige, Lexie, Samantha and Jaclyn Barnes; two great granddaughters, Izabella and Scarlett Shupp. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Koontz of Williamsport, MD and Patricia Izer of Cumming, GA.
 
Jim was a hard-working family man who was always eager to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed regular beach and fishing trips with his family. You could often find him watching a Yankees game or constantly working on a project around the house. He was a wonderful provider and father to his sons and then to their families.
 
A funeral service will be held at The Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Rev. John Schildt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 -1:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 11:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
 
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Panhandle for taking such good care of Jim in his final days.
