James "Jim" O'Brien Obituary

Hagerstown, MD – James "Jim" O'Brien, 75, formerly of Olney, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. 
 

 
He was born on June 11, 1947, to the late James Edward, Sr, and Elizabeth (Patterson) O'Brien. 
 

 
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Smyth) O'Brien. 
 

 
He was a 1965 graduate of Wheaton High School in Wheaton, MD. 
 

 
Jim was a lifelong entrepreneur in the printing business until his retirement in 2018. 
 

 
Jim was of the non-denominational faith, a devout believer, and was very active in the Christian community for over 30 years. He was a member of the Improved Order of the Redmen Tribe #84 in Williamsport, MD, and Morris Frock Post #42 American Legion in Hagerstown, MD. Jim was a motorsports enthusiast and even enjoyed racing in his younger years. Jim also enjoyed spending time working on his vintage sports car collection. 
 

 
He is survived by a son James O'Brien III and his wife, Yuliya Danilchenko of Westport, CT; daughter Jennifer Anastasio and her husband, Joel of Killingworth, CT; daughter Meghan Blair and her husband, Richard of Williamsport, MD; brother, David O'Brien and his wife, Theresa of Clear Spring, MD; sister Barbara Abernethy of Monrovia, MD; sister Maureen Sheridan of Lewis, DE; granddaughters Aerin O'Brien and Avery Blair. 
 

 
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 am with Rev. Martin Frankena officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. The burial will be private.
