Jean Stewart Davis

Hagerstown, MD – Jean Stewart Davis, 82, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Williamsport, MD passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at her home.

She was born on February 3, 1938 in Natrona Heights, Harrison Township, Pennsylvania to the late Colin and Gertrude Ann Stollenwerk Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Davis on February 12, 1992.

Jean was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD where she was co-editor of the yearbook.  She attended Hagerstown Junior College, and went on to graduate from Shepherd College in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.

In her early years, Jean was employed with C&P Telephone, F&M Bank in Hagerstown, MD, Homewood Retirement Center, Community Action Council where she started in the Weatherization Program and later became the First Coordinator with the Meals on Wheels Program, and most recently employed as a Social Worker with Hospice of the Panhandle, Washington County Department of Social Services, and CASA where she worked until her retirement.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church in Williamsport, MD.

Jean volunteered with the Helpline of Washington County.

She always put others needs before her own.  She was a very kind lady and a friend to anyone she met.

She was a member of the BETA SIGMA PHI Sorority; past den mother with the Cub Scouts.

Jean loved to dance, enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, and loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved her family for which she commented everyday how blessed she was.

She is survived by her daughter Susie (Davis) Butts and her husband Randy of Williamsport, MD; son Stewart L. Davis of Brunswick, OH; grandchildren Justin Davis of Waynesboro, PA, Katie L. Grabill and her husband Ryan of Williamsport, MD, Ryan L. Davis and his wife Katie of Bexley, OH, Jeremy Davis of Cleveland, OH, Ryan C. Davis of Cleveland, OH, Vanessa Davis Demmon of Columbus, OH, Timothy Davis of LaVerne, CA; great grandchildren Ainsley N. Grabill, Hudson J. Grabill, Harper L. Grabill, and 1 due in May 2021; brother Colin Kelly Stewart of Phelan, CA; sister-in-law Connie Janiuk of Norristown, PA; sister-in-law Kathy Stewart of Frederick, MD; special niece Jeanne Stewart Tapley (Doug) and family; several other special nieces, nephews, and their families; her beloved dog “Maggie”.

She was predeceased by a son Robert W. Davis; brothers Kenneth E. Stewart and Richard J. Stewart; sister-in-law Moynelle “Nell” Stewart; nephew Colin K. Stewart.

Due to COVID Pandemic private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, MD with Rev. Dr. Ray Roberson officiating.
