Boonsboro, MD - Jerome Joseph "Jerry" Dittman, Jr., 96, of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at his home.
He was born on June 23, 1927, in Duquesne, PA to the late Jerome John and Rella Belle Grooms Dittman.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Jerry was a 1941 graduate of St. Joseph's Elementary School and a 1945 graduate of Duquesne Senior High School.
He received associate degrees from the School of Technical Training Oklahoma A & M College (Oklahoma State University), McCoy College, and John Hopkins University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving at the end of World War II.
Jerry married Helen Louise Scott on February 10, 1968, in St. Ann's Church Waynesburg, Greene County, PA.
He was a member of Potomac Post #202 American Legion Williamsport, MD.
Jerry retired from Racal (Thales) Communications Co. in Rockville, MD as Checker of Engineering Drawings.  He was previously employed by Westinghouse Baltimore, MD and RCA in Communications and Electronic Packaging Designer in Washington, PA.
He had many interests: gardening, and over the years bred English Pointer dogs, Angus Cattle, and after retirement took up the hobby of Genealogy in which he managed to trace his Dittman Family Ancestors line back to the 16th century; along with many related families to various early times.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Mark Joseph Dittman (Donna), Matthew Jerome Dittman; daughter Rebecca Louise Corderman (Robert); grandsons Collin and Austin Corderman, Andrew Dittman; granddaughters Kierstyn Dittman and Jessica Felice; great granddaughter Emma Felice; numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, infant sister, brothers Rev. Msgr. Bernard Francis, James Frederich, and adopted brother Thomas Robert Dittman.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Friday for the convenience of family and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church 32 E. Potomac St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am with Rev. Father Jude Okoye celebrant.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.  Military honors will be provided by Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Maryland School for the Deaf 101 Clarke Place Frederick, MD 21705 or a charity of one's choice.
