Chambersburg, PA – Karl F. Schulte, Sr. 83, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH.
He was born on July 6, 1940, in Baltimore, MD to the late Robert Edgar Schulte and Theona Virigina (Kube) Schulte.
Karl is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna M. Schulte.
He attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Frostburg, MD.
Karl attended Kenwood High School in Baltimore, MD and was a member of a band in the Baltimore area in which he played bass for 11 years. He had college courses and numerous certifications in the field of safety and security and was even a member of the Maryland Tri-State Safety Council. Karl also was a fireman and a certified EMT in his younger years. Karl was the administrator for Phenix services corporation, his wife’s case management business for 25 years. Throughout his life Karl was also employed by Martin Marietta, Fairchild Industries, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the town of Frostburg, MD. He and his wife also owned an antique shop in Garrett County, MD for years. Karl enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and model trains and was involved with the North–South Skirmish Association where he participated in Civil War era competitive shooting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Cathy, Carol, and Karl as well as his stepdaughter Rebecca Leasure (Clete); Grandchildren Thomas Pope (Sam), Elizabeth Lynch (Chris), and Sarah Stover (Tyler); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Angie McKelvin (Bill) and Mary Blazakis (Dino); brother Michael Schulte (Julie).
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather Ernest McCraven, brother Ernest McCraven, Jr., sister Lydia Beals, and stepson Arthur Abbott.
A memorial service will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am with Rev. Cletus Leasure officiating.
