Hagerstown, MD – Larry Donald Allen, 80, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on January 28, 1941 in Charlotte, NC to the late James P. and Rachel Hancock Allen.
Larry was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC.
He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport, MD and was a member of the Men’s Group and Bible Study.
He was also a member of the Williamsport Lions Club and was a board member of the OSSPOA in OBX.
Larry started with Delmar Studios and Yearbooks in 1966 in the Junior Sales Program. He spent time photographing school students in NC, SC, GA, IA and NE. In 1967, Larry graduated from the Junior Sales Program and moved to Hagerstown, MD joining Blanton Studios as the Western Maryland Representative. In 1974, Larry won Delmar’s highest award being named Territory Manager of the Year. By 1984, Larry had built his business to the point where he was able to establish his own Delmar territory. Larry Allen & Company was born. Larry represented Delmar Studios and Yearbooks and then Herff-Jones Studios and Yearbooks until his retirement in 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Pat Allen; daughter Tracy Doub and her husband John of Williamsport, MD; daughter Tammy Smith and her husband Tim of Smithsburg, MD; granddaughter Rachel Jackson and her husband Jeff; grandson Daniel Doub and his fiancee’ Evelynn White; grandson Kellar Smith; granddaughter Katie Smith and her fiance’ James Kelly; great granddaughter Hannah Coulter.
He was predeceased by two brothers Kenneth Hancock and Robert Allen.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Monday for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Rehoboth United Methodist Church Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD.
