Keedysville, MD – Lawrence Elwood Jones, Sr., 76, of Chincoteague, VA and formerly of Keedysville, MD passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Tidal Health Peninsula Medical Center in Salisbury, MD.
He was born on March 5, 1946 in Keedysville, MD to the late Harvey and Virginia Armatha Gay Jones.
Lawrence was employed by Canam Steelcorp as a Welder/Fabricator for 46 years until his retirement in 2016.
He was the President of the Steelworkers #5972 for 17 years.
He was a member of North American Rod & Gun Club in Frederick, MD.
Lawrence loved hunting, fishing, and farming.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Freda Hose Jones; daughter Kim Hough and her husband Greg of Hagerstown, MD; son Lawrence E. “Larry” Jones, Jr. and his wife Tanya of Keedysville, MD; daughter Marsha Jones of Boonsboro, MD; son Wayne Jones of Maugansville, MD; brother Gary Jones of Hagerstown, MD; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother Markwood Jones and a great grandson.
The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.
Burial will be private.
