Linda Lou Henesy

Williamsport, MD – Linda Lou Henesy, 80, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at her home.

She was born on August 13, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Ernest Paul Wolfe and Evelyn Eleanor Minnich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond George Henesy, Jr. on September 6, 2016.

She was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport, MD, she was part of the parish nursing.  She enjoyed going to church every week, it gave her joy and peace. 

Linda was a 1960 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and was a graduate of the first nursing class at Hagerstown Junior College. From there she went on to advance her career with a bachelor’s degree and master’s in nursing education at Shenandoah University and George Mason University, respectively. While pursuing her academic career, Linda was a full-time mother and wife who still made time to volunteer what little time she had to the community. She worked as a registered nurse and a nursing instructor for many years, instructing aspiring nurses at HCC and Towson University. Linda was instrumental in enhancing the nursing curriculum as she developed and led clinical simulations for her students that are still used today. Her passion was to promote the health of her community and instill passion in others for the nursing profession. Following her retirement, she remained active in the academic community and loved to volunteer her time at the homeless shelter of Washington county and through the parish nursing program at her church.

Linda is survived by her son Douglas P. Henesy and his wife Diana of Williamsport, MD; daughter Debbie M. Banzhoff of Williamsport, MD; great grandson whom she raised Ethan Henesy; sister Shirley Dennis of Tennessee; 5 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters Janice Toms and Dewey Shoaf; two brothers Ernie Wolfe and Billy Wolfe.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 6:00 -8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 12:00 (noon) on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Burial will be private.
