Lois Elaine Gelwicks

Hagerstown, MD – Lois Elaine Gelwicks, 84, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 14, 1939, in Williamsport, MD to the late Claudis Preston Turner and Charlotte Marie Scott.

Lois was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Richard “Dick” Gelwicks in 1995.

Lois was employed by Williamsport Retirement Village as a certified geriatric assistant for over 30 years until her retirement.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hagerstown, MD.

Lois enjoyed spending time with both her family as well as her church family, being outside and feeding her birds.

She is survived by her daughters Pamela Dianne Siler and husband George, Jr. of Williamsport, MD; Diana Lynn Rhoton and husband Steve of Williamsport, MD; son Michael Richard Gelwicks and wife Kathy of Hagerstown, MD; sister Carol Guessford and husband Gordon of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren: Cari Houser (Curtis), Angela Rhoton, Casey Mowl, Travis Rhoton (Valerie); great grandchildren: Natalie, Mitchell, Ricky, Conner, Adalynn, Emma.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was predeceased by 2 sisters Dixie Kelly and Donna Fischer and 3 brothers Douglas Turner, Ned Wayne Turner, and Harry Turner.

The family will greet friends at The Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The funeral home will be open at 12 (Noon) on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD on Friday November 3, 2023, at 11:00 am with Minister Alan Robinson officiating.
