Margaret Ann (Gaughan) Moran passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She was born on August 8th, 1946, in Mt Savage, Maryland to Joe and Helen Gaughan. She had an older brother Charles Gaughan who passed away in 2004. Margaret Ann attended Catholic Girls Central (CGC) High School in Cumberland and later attended Catherman’s Business School, also in Cumberland…
She met her future husband John in town, and they became close friends and later childhood sweethearts. Shortly after being married on October 29th, 1966, they moved to Washington, DC where Margaret Ann started working at Group Health. In the early 1970’s, Margaret Ann took a job as a medical transcriptionist at Doctors Hospital of PG County in Lanham, Md and the family moved to Seabrook. In the late 1980’s, Margaret Ann left Doctor’s Hospital and started her own medical transcriptionist service at home for about 6-7 years. She later started working at Kaiser Permanente where she retired in 2009. In 2009, John and Margo moved to Falling Waters, WV where they lived until their deaths in May and December 2023...
Margo liked to fish but never placed a worm on a hook, her husband was there for that. He bought a classic Mustang, so she bought herself one as well. From that point on she became Mustang Margo. She loved to attend car shows with her son Alan and talk with the car guys. After she won her first trophy, she kind of got addicted to the car show thing and was always asking where the next show was…
Margaret Ann was full of life and was well liked by everybody she met. She made friends everywhere she went. She was part of a knitting club but never actually knitted. (It’s a social thing.) She loved lunches with high school friends and past co-workers. In the last few months, she had joined the Bedington United Methodist Church and became a regular. Spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts had become her social arenas. She loved the interaction with the church congregation.
She is survived by her son Alan, daughter-in-law Cheryl and grandson Bradley who live in Fairplay, Md. A visitation will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St, in Williamsport, Md on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
