Margie NG Obituary

Halfway, MD – Margie H. NG, 82, of Halfway, MD passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD.

 

She was born on May 2, 1936 in Kitzmiller, MD to the late Leighton Wilbur and Lillian Mae Evans Harvey.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tuck Wai NG on March 17, 2012.  She met Tuck on a Mission field in 1965 and went on to marry him that same year.  Both families adopted each other’s cultures and they went on to live a fulfilling life.

 

Margie was a 1954 graduate of Elk Garden High School Elk Garden, WV.  She was a 1958 graduate of Alderson Broaddus University in Phillipi, WV graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She did Missionary training for 3-4 years at various places in the United States and Malaysia.  She also received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore in 1976.  She was a Professor Emeritus in Nursing at Hagerstown Community College.

 

She worked for the United Methodist Board of Missions for 8 years, Washington County Hospital for 2 years, and Hagerstown Community College School of Nursing for 25 years.

 

Margie was a member of Church of the Holy Trinity in Halfway, MD.  She was a former member of Williamsport United Methodist Church where she taught Adult Sunday School Classes.  She also established and ran the free Nursing Clinic at Williamsport United Methodist Church from 1980-1990.

 

She was also a member of Phi Sigma Phi Educational Honor Society.

 

She is survived by her son Michael M. NG of Halfway, MD; brother Robert O. Harvey of Kitzmiller, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Margie was predeceased by a sister Doris Mae Poffenberger.

 

A memorial service will be held at Church of the Holy Trinity Halfway, MD on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Kyle Powderly officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
