Mark McGlaughlin Obituary

Sharpsburg, MD – Mark Dean McGlaughlin, 73, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at his home.

 

He was born on March 16, 1949 in Waynesboro, PA to the late Charles Corsie and Ruth Zentz McGlaughlin.

 

He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Rebecca McGlaughlin in 2019.

 

Mark was a graduate of Havre de Grace High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Baltimore College of Commerce/University of Baltimore Maryland.

 

He was honorably discharged from the National Guard of Maryland and as a Reserve of the Army of the United States.

 

He was employed by Rotorex from 1972-1989, JJ&W Aircraft Services from 1990-2000, and retired from Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley 2002-2017.

 

Mark was a member of Clopper-Michael Sons of the American Legion Post #10 Boonsboro, MD; Dixon Troxell Post #211 American Legion Funkstown, MD; Amvets Post #7 Thurmont, MD; Sons of the Amvets Post #9 Middletown, MD; Frederick Elks #684; IORM Tribe #84 Williamsport, MD; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #3000 International.

 

He is survived by his daughter Heather Copenhaver (Chris) of Boonsboro, MD; son Chad McGlaughlin (Sean) of Greencastle, PA; son Michael McGlaughlin (Megan) of Seven Springs, PA; stepson Ralph Gossard of Sharpsburg, MD; stepson Brian Gossard of Boonsboro, MD; 5 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren.

 

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Harris.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 11:00 am with Rev. Darrell Layman officiating.  Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD.  Military honors will be provided by Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
