Mary Louise Scott Moats
January 9, 1930 ~ November 26, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Mary Louise Scott Moats was born to the late Edward M. Scott and Zoe E. Scott, on January 9, 1930. She was a lifelong resident of Williamsport, Maryland, until the last years of her life. Mary was the youngest of three sisters, Sarah Scott McElroy and Betty Marie Scott, both who predeceased her. After graduating from Williamsport High School in 1947, Mary went to work at Redland Cushwa Brick, in Williamsport, Maryland. It was at Cushwa Brick that Mary met her husband, Robert (Pete) Paul Moats, who she married on November 24, 1956. Mary retired from Cushwa Brick in 1993, after 46 years of service. Mary and Pete celebrated 61 years of marriage, when Pete went home to be with the Lord, on December 11, 2017.
Mary was a lifelong member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. She loved to go fishing with Pete and spent many hours fishing along the Potomac River, known by the locals as the “river bottom”. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her son-in-law, her grandchildren and their families, and Cuddles, the family dog.
After Pete’s death, Mary went to live in Mount Airy, Maryland, with their daughter, and only child and her husband, Patricia and Gary Frey and their family. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Garrison Frey and his wife Keirstyn, Brendan Frey and his wife Brittany, Alina Frey and Andrew Frey. Mary also was predeceased by her niece, Linda McElroy Shirley.
Mary passed away on November 26, 2023, at the age of 93, peacefully at home with her daughter and son-in-law, and Cuddles. With the compassionate assistance of Bridging Life Hospice Care, she was able to remain at home until the Lord called her to her forever home.
