Melvin Lynn Polley, Sr.

Williamsport, MD – Melvin Lynn Polley, Sr., 89, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 16, 1931 in Williamsport, MD to the late William Franklin and Bessie Ringer Polley.

He was employed at Sharrett Volkswagen in Hagerstown, MD for 21 years until his retirement in 1991.

He was a lawnmower repairman for everybody in town.

Melvin was a Private First Class serving in the United States Army.

He was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church in Maugansville, MD.

Melvin loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Valerie Jean McKinsey Polley whom he married on July 4, 1965; daughter Belinda K. Martin and her husband Donald of Hagerstown, MD; son Melvin L. Polley, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Hagerstown, MD; brother Charles Polley of FL; sister Laura Belle Trumpower of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren Destiny Martin-Rowland and her husband Bret, Heather Martin and her longtime partner Josh Crampton, and Devin Martin; 2 great grandchildren Addalynne and Charleigh Rowland.

He was predeceased by two brothers Dale Polley and Robert Polley.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 17904 Binkley Dr. Maugansville, MD on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Chad Carter officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
