N. Churchey Obituary

N. Lorraine “Rainey” Churchey, 86, was born November 29, 1934 in Antietam Furnace, passed from this life on May 2, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Norman Lester Ecton and Nina Mae Ebersole Ecton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles M. “Danny” Churchey whom she missed for 26 years and is now reunited for eternity.  Lorraine was a Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, and Aunt.

She enjoyed spending time in the yard with her flower gardens and a freshly mowed lawn “Thanks Roger”. Sunday’s with the family brought her much happiness as brothers and sisters often gathered at her home.  Rainey was known for her cooking and baking, especially Lemon Pie and her famous Prune Cake.  If you visited her home she would not be satisfied until she convinced you to eat something and have a cup of coffee during your visit.

She was a member of the Antietam Church of God.

Lorraine is survived by two daughters Carolyn Hutson (Husband Terry Hutson) of Dargan, MD and Sharon Eby of Hagerstown, MD.

Grandson Terry Gray who was the love of her life and his companion Sandy Satterly of Kentucky and granddaughter Ashley Bock and her husband Justin of Texas.

Great granddaughters Charity Gray Sharp and her husband Corey of Indiana, Lina and Natalie Bock of Texas.

Great-Great Grandchildren, Bostyn and Brynlee Sharp of Indiana.

Two brothers Roger Ecton and his wife Jeanne of Antietam Furnace and Elmer Theodore Ecton of Hagerstown.

She was predeceased by six brothers, twins Thomas A. Ecton and Leon G. Ecton, Harold L. Ecton, John A. Ecton, Sr., Atlee Ecton, Richard L. Ecton, and half brother Sylvester Ecton, and three sisters, Isabel Howard Fauble, Viola V. Ingram and Alice M. Drake.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff on 5 South at Meritus Medical Center who provided excellent and loving care for Lorraine and her daughters during our week long journey.  We will never forget you: Leroy, Alexis, London, Sierra, Jane, Jared, Moret, Eileen, Lindsay, Kristin, Stacey, Zully, Selina, Abigail, Anna, Brandy, and Amy.
