Patti Jean Koons

Halfway, MD – Patti Jean Koons, 92, of Halfway, MD passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Twin Oaks Village in Williamsport, MD.

She was born on June 13, 1928 in Williamsport, MD the daughter of the late Van Dorn Sr. and Anna K. Spigler Palmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel “Buddy” Koons, Jr. on October 11, 2016.  They were married on March 28, 1948.

Patti was a 1946 graduate of Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD.

She was previously employed by Hagerstown Lumber Company and was a Crossing Guard for 26 years in Halfway, MD.

Patti was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday School for 15 years.

She was a charter member of the Friendship Homemaker’s Club in Halfway, MD.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Anna Ralls and her husband Joseph of Smithsburg, MD; two sons Richard Alan Koons and his wife Laura of Hagerstown, MD and Randy Lee Koons and his wife Teresa of Williamsport, MD; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; step sister Sonia Hornbaker of Hagerstown, MD.

She was predeceased by a sister Ada Fish; two brothers Van Dorn Palmer, Jr. and Robert Lee Palmer; one step brother Raymond D. Palmer.

There will be no viewing.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor Kim Nunberg officiating.
