Paul Thomas Sumpter

Williamsport, MD – Paul Thomas Sumpter, 64, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on August 5, 1957 in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Paul Cooper and Mary Elizabeth (Estep) Sumpter.

He was a Superintendent for Paul Davis Restoration until his retirement in 2021.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was recently baptized at Peoples Gospel Tabernacle in Hagerstown, MD.

Paul enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.  He was very loved and appreciated by his family, friends, and co-workers.  He was a mentor to so many people. 

Paul loved music, playing his guitar, and spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Susan Sumpter whom he married on December 30, 2004; stepson Michael Hornbecker and his wife Megan of Indianapolis, IN; stepson Alan Hornbecker and his wife Danielle of Burke, VA; stepdaughter Leslie Tracey and her husband Michael of Hagerstown, MD; nephew Jeffrey Sumpter and his wife Maria of Greencastle, PA; step grandchildren Emma and Sam Hornbecker; great nephew Christopher Sumpter; great niece Kristina Shawyer.

Paul was predeceased by his sister Melva Wiggington.

A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Kim Nunberg officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00- 11:00 am.  Burial will be private.
