Ramon T. Joy, Sr.

Hagerstown, MD – Ramon T. Joy, Sr., 86, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on August 1, 1935 in Cumberland, MD to the late Oscar Oswald and Jessie Hope (Norris) Joy.

Ramon received his GED in the Army in 1959.

He was employed as a Truck Driver until his retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church in Hagerstown, MD. He recently attended Valley Assembly of God in Hagerstown, MD.

Ramon was a handyman and could fix anything.  He enjoyed taking trips to Lancaster, PA every year with his wife Clara.  He was a homebody but enjoyed spending time with his family.  Ramon also enjoyed attending car and truck shows.

He is survived by his wife Clara Joy whom he married on May 30, 1968; son Ramon T. Joy, Jr. and his wife Lena of Williamsport, MD; son Eric Dryden and his wife Jaclyn of Creston, NC; daughter Joyce Carpenter of Hagerstown, MD; sister Marie Moore of Hagerstown, MD; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David Wolfensberger; granddaughter Megan Wolfensberger; brothers Lester F. Joy and Carl O. Joy; son-in-law David Carpenter, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Monday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Monday for the convenience of family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Piney Plains Cemetery 12708 Faith Circle ND Little Orleans, MD on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 3:30 pm. Military honors will be provided by the United States Military Honor Guard.
