Williamsport, MD – Raymond Arthur Monninger, Jr., 73, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on February 23, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Raymond Arthur Sr. and June Anna Mae Silvers Monninger.
He was a 1964 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.
Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal and three bronze service stars.
He was employed as a tractor-trailer driver for UPS of Hagerstown, MD until his retirement in 2000. He logged 31 years of safe driving.
He was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church Williamsport, MD.
He was also a member of W.D. Bryon Post #1936 VFW Hagerstown, MD; Dixon Troxell Post #211 American Legion Funkstown, MD; Teamsters Local #992 Hagerstown, MD.
Raymond enjoyed Bowling, Horseshoes, Karaoke, Still Shooting Matches, Playing Cards, Bingo, Wildlife and the Outdoors, and family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife Rita J. Bryson Monninger whom he married on February 24, 1985; daughter Shannon Ray Kehne and her companion Doug of Fairplay, MD; sister Mary C. “Cassie” Griffith of Williamsport, MD; grandchildren Brooke R. Keplinger and Julia N. Kehne; nieces Shelley Ray Saber and her husband Tim and Stacey Ray Dudley and her husband Eric; several great nieces and nephews; special friends Thelma “Bunks” Monninger and Dave Lewis.
He was predeceased by two special brother in laws Darrell M. Griffith and Lee Gahagen.
A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Ray Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service on Friday from 9:00-11:00 am. Military honors will be provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post #42 Hagerstown, MD. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
