Hagerstown, MD – Richard E. “Dick” Lohman, 83, of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Dick was born on September 17, 1940, in Middletown, MD to the late Gardner Leon and Nora Virginia (Griffith) Lohman.

He was a 1958 graduate of Boonsboro High School before going onto receive an associate degree in business from Strayer College.

Dick was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Hagerstown, MD. He was also a former member of the Red Men in Boonsboro and the Elk’s Club.

For many years Dick raised, trained, and raced Thoroughbred horses mainly in Charles Town, WV. He eventually would retire from Eastalco in 1998.

He enjoyed playing cards on Sundays with his wife Susan and daughter Brenda. He also loved his grandchildren and buying and working on old cars.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Susan A. Morton (Lohman) whom he married on December 26, 1962; daughter Brenda Lohman; son Rich Lohman and his wife Debbie; grandchildren: Randy Lohman and his wife Kamila and Bethany Miller and her husband Reily; sister Joyce Turner; sister-in-law Jane Lohman; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Lee Lohman.

A memorial service will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11:00 am with Pastor Randy Reid officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
