Richard J. "Buck" Silvers

Williamsport, MD – Richard J. “Buck” Silvers, 94, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

He was born on November 23, 1925 in Williamsport, MD to the late Richard Martin and Catherine E. Byers Silvers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Jane Silvers in 2010.

He attended Williamsport High School in Williamsport, MD.

Buck retired from Fairchild and Rohr Industries where he worked on the A-10 Fighter jets. 

He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy in the Galapagos Islands.

He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Hagerstown, MD.

He is survived by his daughter Cheri Hovermale and her husband Darrell of Williamsport, MD; granddaughter Kristi Brooks and her husband Mike of Hagerstown, MD; great grandchildren Liam and Lucy Brooks; granddaughter Lindsay Hovermale of Denver, CO; sister Dorothy Gruber of Williamsport, MD; sister Jean Groff of Williamsport, MD; brother John Silvers of Martinsburg, WV; brother Bobby Silvers of Newbern, NC; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son Richard D. Silvers in 2004; brother Jack Silvers; sister June Monninger.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Sean Brumbaugh officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
