Obituary

Downsville, MD – Richard Lee Stover, 74, of Downsville, MD passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at his home.  He passed away very peacefully.

 

He was born on February 3, 1947 in Boonsboro, MD to the late James R. Stover and Madaline Zimmerman.

 

He was employed with DOT Foods in Williamsport, MD for 30 plus years and also worked on the Beckley and Rowland Dairy Farms.

 

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam.

 

He attended Downsville Church of the Brethren in Downsville, MD.

 

Richard enjoyed woodworking, fishing, building and flying R/C model airplanes, playing and watching golf, playing the lottery, watching movies, avid Miami Dolphins fan, taking car rides, and enjoyed eating ice cream.

 

He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (Cook) Stover whom he married on December 2, 1967; daughter Angela Bailey of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Lorie Harris of Williamsport, MD; son Richard Lee Stover, Jr. and his wife Renee of Sharpsburg, MD; brother Charles Branchman and his wife Barb of Clear Spring, MD; sister in law Carol Lucas of Hagerstown, MD; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by a brother Lewis Lucas.

 

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 10:00 am – 12:00 (noon).

 

Graveside services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, PA on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Casto officiating.  Military graveside services will he conducted by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
