Williamsport, MD- Roger Lee Reel, 74, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on October 27, 1943 in Petersburg, WV to the late Floda Virginia VanMeter Reel.
He was a 1963 graduate of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD.
Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He served as a Crew Chief on a Medevac Helicopter in the 57th Dustoff. After serving, Roger returned to Vietnam from 1966-1970 working as a Civilian Crew Chief for Air America.
He worked for Henson Aviation in Hagerstown, MD for 17 years as a Mechanic and Station Chief and then was employed by Grove Worldwide as a Mechanic and Station Chief for their private jet until his retirement in 1998.
He attended Virginia Avenue Church of God Halfway, MD.
Roger is survived by his wife of 48 years Lan Nguyen Reel; brother William R. Reel and his wife Kay of Williamsport, MD; nephew Nathan Reel; niece Jana Reel Koontz; cousins Joyce Collins, Jeanette Hyre, and Brenda Cerka;many other nieces, nephews, and cousins; many great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Wilma Carter and a brother Lawrence VanMeter.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Shawn Bushman officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Thursday for the convenience of family and friends. Military graveside services will be provided by Joint Veteran’s Council of Washington Council and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
