Hagerstown, MD – Romaine Marie “Ro” McCabe, of Hagerstown, MD passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home with family at her side at the age of 101. She is now reunited with her husband, son, and other family in the kingdom of Heaven.
Born in Rosedale, New Jersey to Joseph A. Gerrity and Christine McGraw. The family lived in several locations in Northern New Jersey with Lake Shawnee being Romaine’s favorite. She moved to Maryland with her family with the arrival of Mack Truck in 1960 in Williamsport and later moved to Hagerstown.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Walter Edward McCabe, Sr., in 2011.
Romaine loved God and her family dearly. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and previously belonged to St. Augustine Catholic Church of Williamsport.
She was a Homemaker. She was an expert baker with a wicked sense of humor. Romaine loved to travel with her husband after his retirement and held wonderful memories of those times.
She is survived by her daughter Jaclynne Rhodes of Hagerstown, MD; son Thomas McCabe and his wife Laura of Aspen, CO; grandson Tim Rhodes and his wife Camille of Greendale, WI; granddaughter Brooke Rhodes of Waynesboro, PA; granddaughter Merrin McCabe of Aspen, CO; great grandson Colin Rhodes of Carlisle, PA; great granddaughter Kaiya Rhodes of Hagerstown, MD; great grandson William Rhodes of Greendale, WI; great great granddaughter Alani Balcita of Hagerstown, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son Walter Jr., brother Joseph, and sisters Marie and Helen.
Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2:30 with Deacon Nairn officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Monday for the convenience of family and friends. Burial will be private.
