Ronald Lynn Poffenberger

Boonsboro, MD – Ronald Lynn Poffenberger, 68, of Boonsboro, MD passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 after a brief illness with COVID at the Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, NC.

Born February 6, 1953, he was the son of the late Hilda (Milburn) Hayes and the late Harvey Cecil Poffenberger, Jr.

Ron graduated from Boonsboro Senior High School in 1971.  He owned his own business, R.L. Poffenberger and Son Construction.  Along with his son and grandson, built houses and did extensive remodeling projects throughout Washington County.  He was semi-retired.

Ron loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, doing extensive traveling to various places over the years to hunt and fish.  His passion was traveling and hunting big game all over North America. Last year he bought a vacation home near Lake Kerr in Henderson, NC and enjoyed fishing there with family and friends.

His artistic abilities spanned from restoring cars, designing and building residential projects and taxidermy work.

Ron was a member of the NRA, various bass fishing organizations, and Clopper-Michael Post #10 American Legion Boonsboro, MD.

He is survived by his fiance’ Carolyn Aycoth of Boonsboro, MD; son Shannon Poffenberger and his wife Mary of Boonsboro, MD; brother Randy Poffenberger and his wife Jill of Henderson, NC; sisters Becky Cooper of Hagerstown, MD; Tina Hayes of Hagerstown, MD; Lisa Hayes of Chambersburg, PA; Donna Raynor and her husband Jim of Kenansville, FL; Kendra Olson and her husband Shawn of Charles Town, WV; grandson Kyle Poffenberger and his fiance’ Molly of Boonsboro, MD; granddaughter Kinsee Pansch and her husband Ryan of Kearneysville, WV; Carolyn’s son Aaron and fiance’ Christine; special little buddy Noah Aycoth; numerous nieces and nephews.

We love you Ron for your; greeting smile, laughter, unconditional love, work ethic, opinions, honesty and approach to life. It will be felt forever and passed forward for future Generations.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be home open after 12:00 (noon) on Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Joe Sheedy officiating.  Interment will be in Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, MD.

The family asks that you please dress casual with a button up shirt and blue jeans.
