SSG Brandon Logan Needy

SSG Brandon Logan Needy, 29, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from a single vehicle accident while driving to Fort Drum in New York.  Brandon was an active duty soldier stationed at Fort Drum.

He was born on April 16, 1992 in Hagerstown, MD to Karl Lee Needy of Williamsport, MD and Rhonda Annette Shelby Needy of Quincy, PA

Brandon was a 2010 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He entered the military right after high school. He was a Staff Sergeant of the United States Army making many sacrifices over his 10 years of serving. Brandon served two tours in Afghanistan, as well as several other deployments.

Beside his parents he is survived by his daughter Aislynn Lane Needy of Sperry Oklahoma; stepmother Jody A. Needy of Williamsport, MD; stepbrother Bradley M. Ridenour of Hagerstown, MD; stepbrother  Owen M. Ridenour of Falling Waters, WV; step-grandmother Patricia Miley of Falling Waters, WV; a nephew  and niece; many Uncles; Aunts; Cousins.   As well as an abundance of cherished friends and military brothers and sisters from across the world. 

Brandon loved books, poetry, tattoos, and music. He was an avid reader, a writer himself, and a brilliant storyteller. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and playing his guitars. He deeply loved his family and his friends.  He was always quick with a joke and laugh. Brandon’s smile lit up any room, and for those of us lucky enough to be in it, his joy radiated.

Brandon passionately lived and loved life with joy, humor, and love. He gave love away freely, abundantly, and without judgement. Brandon embodied hope, and he showed us what it means to connect and to demonstrate genuine care for one another.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home,P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Andrea Sawtelle officiating.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Armed Forces.

Brandon requested casual attire “best pair of blue jeans and one of those fancy button ups”.
