Martinsburg, WV – Samuel Edward “Sam” Miller, Sr., 66, of Martinsburg, WV and formerly of Williamsport, MD passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at his home.

 

He was born on April 22, 1953 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Charles Ellsworth and Virginia Elizabeth Eckis Miller.

 

He was a 1971 of Williamsport High School Williamsport, MD and attended Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA.

 

In Sam’s early years he worked alongside his family at their business Busy Corner Lanes in Williamsport, MD and later owned and operated Sam’s Busy Corner.  He managed several Shoney’s Restaurants in the Tri-State area.  He was employed at Canteen of Hagerstown, MD where he managed the Cafeteria at First Data in Hagerstown, MD.  He retired from Head Start of Washington County as a food service manager.

 

He was of the Lutheran Faith.

 

Sam was a member of the Marlowe Ruritan Marlowe, WV and the Washington County Umpire’s Association.

 

He was associated with the Conococheague Little League in Williamsport, MD and was involved in many duckpin bowling leagues in Washington County.

He is survived by his daughter Shannon M. Gaither and her former husband David of Hedgesville, WV; son Samuel E. “Sam” Miller, Jr. of Falling Waters, WV; grandchildren Allie E. Gaither and Colin D. Gaither; former wife Debbie J. Frey.

 

Services and burial will be private.
