Steven Allen Bowers

Williamsport, MD – Steven Allen Bowers, 79, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Homewood at Williamsport.

He was born on August 26, 1941 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Eugene Calvin and Mary Josephine (Saxton) Bowers.

Steven was a 1959 graduate of South Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, MD.   In High School Steven participated in Basketball, Football, Baseball and Track.  He was also Homeroom President for 3 years. He graduated from Frostburg State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Steven started his Elementary Teaching Career in Washington County at Woodland Way in Hagerstown, MD.  Then he went on to become Principal at Pleasant Valley Elementary, Smithsburg Elementary, Clear Spring Elementary, Williamsport Elementary, and finished at Fountain Rock Elementary where he retired in 2004.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD where he was very active.

He was a member of Hagerstown Rotary where he served as an Officer.

Steven had a passion for sports cars and was an avid Civil War buff.  He loved the beach, especially Ocean City, MD and was very devoted to his granddaughters.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Clevenger of Hagerstown, MD; granddaughters McKenna and Reanne Clevenger of Hagerstown, MD.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A. 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends.

Services and burial will be private at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD.
