Velda Elizabeth Clanton

Hagerstown, Maryland-Velda Elizabeth Clanton, 93 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on Monday March 2, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

Born May 7, 1926 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dorey Franklin and Blanche Ethel Ray Robinette.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Roy Clanton on June 10, 2012.

She was a 1946 graduate of Flintstone High School in Flintstone, MD.  She received a certificate from Baltimore Business College, a diploma from Hagerstown Junior College and a Bachelor’s Degree from University State of New York.  She attended Hood College and Western Maryland College for her graduate work.  She worked for the Washington County Board of Education until her retirement in 1988.  She was a member of Salem Reformed United Church of Christ in Hagerstown, MD

Velda is survived by a daughter Shirley A. Harbaugh and her husband Tim of Hagerstown, MD, a son Roy Lynn Clanton of Hagerstown, MD, 3 sisters Eunice C. Robinette of Boonsboro, MD, Norma E. Robinette of Boonsboro, MD and Charlotte E. Clippinger of Warfordsburg, PA, a granddaughter Angela R. Stouffer and her husband Kevin, a great grandson Daniel W. Stouffer and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters Esther A. Newton and Opal A. Davis, a brother Donald L. Robinette, a half-sister Lena V. Payne and a half-brother John F. Robinette.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 6, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD 21795.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020 at 11:00am at Salem Reformed Church Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Ernest E. Witmer officiating.
