Viola Evelyn King

Hagerstown, MD – Viola Evelyn King, 91, of Hagerstown, MD went to be with the Lord with her husband by her side on Friday, November 1, 2019. She passed away at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, MD.

She was born on July 21, 1928 in Tunnelton, WV to the late Jesse Benjamin and Ada Orpha Wolfe Funk.

She attended Hancock High School in Hancock, MD.

Viola was employed by Colton Villa in Hagerstown, MD and she owned and operated K&K Cleaning Company in Hagerstown, MD until her retirement.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown, MD. She held a degree in Ministries.

Viola lost her son in the Vietnam War.  She was a gold star Mother. She was a member of Hagerstown Moose Lodge #212 Auxiliary of Hagerstown, MD and college of Regent.  She was a member of Amvets Post #10 Auxiliary and was the past department President of the State Amvets of Maryland; member of Queen Esther #3 O.E.S.; and a member of W.D. Byron Post #1936 VFW Auxiliary of Hagerstown, MD.

She is survived by her husband Harold Henry “Sky” King, Sr. whom she married on September 2, 1977; daughter Rita E. Kitchen and her husband Ronnie of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Iva Leeann Kyne and her husband Eugene of Falling Waters, WV; daughter Belinda Bryan and her husband Eddie of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Cynthia L. Burcker and her husband Harry of Bunker Hill, WV; daughter Deanna L. Belz and her husband Bobby of Clear Spring, MD; son Edward Leo Clark and his wife Virgie of Chambersburg, PA; son Rev. Terry K. Clark and his wife Wanda of Union Bridge, MD; stepdaughter Kay F. Malott of Mercersburg, PA; stepson Harold H. King, Jr. of Winterhaven, FL; special nephew Ralph Funk of Hagerstown, MD; also survived by other numerous nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son Larry M. Clark; 3 grandchildren; four sisters Agnes “Toodles” McCoy, Louise “Tack” Porter, Leliah Funk, and Helen I. Funk; three brothers Galen Funk, Orval “Poke” Funk, and George Funk.

Funeral services will be held at Virginia Avenue Church of God Hagerstown, MD on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Shawn Bushman officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services from 10:00-11:00 am.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Williamsport, MD.
